PSSL Activities

PSSL Regional Meetings

PSSL holds regional meetings in the Departments of Physiology in  the different Medical Faculties in Sri Lanka annually to promote fellowship among physiologists working throughout the country. These meetings give an opportunity for the academic staff of the host department of physiology to present their research and teaching activities for discussion among their peers and to develop collaborative projects. In addition these meetings promote social interactions and gives the opportunity for the PSSL members to visit local sites of interest in different regions.

 

Past regional meetings

2017 - Held on the 10th of March 2017 at the Faculty of Health-Care Sciences of the Eastern University, Batticaloa.

2016 - Held on 11th March 2016 at Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayawardenepura

2015 – Held on 7th May 2015 at the Dental Faculty, University of Peradeniya

2014 – Held on 5th April, 2014 at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ruhuna, Galle.

2013 – Held on 29th June 2013 at the Faculty of Medicine, Jaffna

2012 – Not held

2011 – Held on 8th of July, 2011 at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rajarata

 

PSSL workshops

  • 2017 pre-congress workshop on “Exercise is medicine” was held on 14th November, 2017 at Teaching Hospital, Karapitiya, Galle.
  • Workshop on Simulations in Physiology Teaching and Quantitative Assessment of Skills by Prof. Ramesh Rajan, Professor of Physiology School of Biomedical Sciences, Monash University was held on 4th August, 2017 at Medical Faculty, University of Colombo.
  • 2016 pre-congress workshop on Obesity and weight management was held on 25th November, 2016 at Medical Faculty, University of Colombo.
  • 2013 pre-congress workshop on “Age related changes in, nutrition, cognition, memory and balance” was held on 21st November, 2013 at Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayawardenepura
  • Workshop on “Innovation and Integration in Physiology Teaching” was held on 7th June, 2013 at Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayawardenepura
